Apartment Lyon

Before renovation the apartment comprised 3 rooms with an alcove and three mezzanines. The project was to restore the original floor plan and provide two spacious rooms with high ceilings: one double reception and one en-suite bedroom. Each was lined with new wood panelling rigorously based on existing remnants. A Louis XVI-style fireplace was added to the master bedroom. The intention was to give the impression that the decor was original.

Symmetry was introduced in the double reception room by carefully designing the wood panelling and placing a floor-to-ceiling mirror to balance out the doorway. Similarly the bedroom now opens onto its breathtaking, south-facing view via two large, beautifully proportioned windows. Wood panelling was restored in the bedroom, with an antique Burgundy stone mantelpiece as a focal point.
